Client’s Challenge
This house adjoining the golf club was outdated and in need of internal reconfiguration to bring it to market to their international golfing clients.
The brief was to create a space for ideal for entertainment and relaxing for the International golfing tourist visiting Ireland to stay & play at The Island, one of Ireland’s, and Europe’s, best links golf courses.
SHOLA’s Solution
We identified the need to create a luxury sporting golf lodge and to maximise the bedroom and bathroom offerings in order to create a commercially viable space and so an internal redesign was required.
We created the space into a four double bedroom, four bathroom space suitable for up to eight guests along with guest kitchen and dining area and an incredible 1st floor living room with balcony and stunning views over the estuary and through to Malahide village across the water.
As the lodge was ideally located in an area of outstanding natural beauty on Dublin’s North coast, a thoughtful design scheme was developed to welcome the guests and a contemporary Irish feel was introduced. We used a soft muted colour palette to harmonise with the greens and blues in nature outside the lodge along with traditional woven fabrics such as tweeds and natural cottons on the beds and furnishing. We also used local Irish suppliers as much as possible to celebrate the best of Irish design.
Along with internal design, the outdoor spaces were furnished and landscaped to create fabulous dining and relaxing areas with direct access to the golf course for the guests staying in the lodge.
It was of paramount importance that we delivered a commercially viable and luxury golf lodge suitable for international visitors with a contemporary Irish feel and we are delighted to have worked with The Island on this most exciting project.
